About Us

Chas Smith (Stewart’s father) originally started the business in about 1972. On his passing the business was run by Jim Chester on behalf of Dalgety’s. In 1987 Stewart returned to Bega after spending 2 years in Glen Innes to work with Jim. They decided to change the trading name to Chester & Smith Pty Ltd.

Jim has since moved on and Chester & Smith is now privately owned and operated by Stewart & Tracy Smith.

Stewart conducts weekly cattle and calf sales at Bega as well as a Store Sale on the last Thursday of each month at the Bega Saleyards (Kerrisons Lane)

Stewart will assist you in purchasing quality cattle and help you achieve the best return on your livestock.

The business also conducts private cattle sales, feedlot orders, paddock sales, rural property sales and clearance sales for farm machinery, household items and estates.

We share an office with Elders Real Estate in Bega in which we are also partners. The staff from either business will be able to help with any enquiries.
